Snowmobiling through the Lappish wilderness to catch Northern Lights

On this safari, we jump on snowmobiles in the dark of night and head towards our Northern Lights camp. A safari in the winter night landscape under the stars is an experience in itself, and if we're lucky, it's crowned by the aurora borealis or shooting stars that we should hope to see. At our hut, we enjoy sausages cooked over an open fire and hot drinks, keeping you also warm on a cold weather. The Northern Lights are unpredictable, so we can't guarantee you'll see them but we’ll have fun anyway!

The length of safari is ca. 25-30 km and its duration is approx. 2-3 hours. This safari is suitable for families with kids!

Safari price includes guidance in english, thermal clothing, fuel, traffic insurance (maximum self liability 1500EUR)  and hot drinks with a snack by the fire.

    This tour is suitable for children over 3 year.

    Snowmobiling is a physical sport, it is not recommended for people with disability.

    Snowmobile programs are not suitable for pregnant women.

    This program includes a snack, so please advise on any special diets or food allergies in advance.

    Child tickets entitles children to a seat in a sled pulled by a snowmobile driven by the guide. Children taller than 130 cm are allowed to sit on a snowmobile behind an adult, when paying the adult price. Tokka Safaris Oy reserves the right to deny the participation of small children for snowmobiling part due to safety reasons (e.g. demanding weather or trail conditions).

    Adult single ticket gives you the possibility to drive the snowmobile solo. With adult ticket you will share the snowmobile. Guests can take turns in driving when sharing the snowmobile.

    Self liability can be reduced to 350EUR by paying a waiver supplement 35EUR per driver. In case the driver has not followed the laws of Road Traffic Act (a.k.a instructions given by our guide) damages to snowmobile are to be paid in full (no self-liabilities or self-liability waivers apply).

    The driver of the snowmobile has to be at least 18 years of age with a driver’s license valid in Finland. Driving a motorized vehicle under the influence of alcohol or intoxicating drugs is prohibited by the laws of Finland.

    Safety and driving instructions are demonstrated before every safari and customer is obligated to follow the instructions of the guide.

    In our night safaris we hope we’re lucky enough to catch the Northern lights and show you the best spots to see them. Our snowmobile tour takes you away from village light pollution. You just must be patience as Northern Lights like to play hide & seek.

    Please remember, Northern lights are an unpredictable natural phenomenon and we cannot guarantee that they will appear. They can be predicted but not be guaranteed.

    What to bring

      Please take your driving license with you on the snowmobile safari as the police may check the validity of the license during the safari.

      Wear flexible high collar thermal wear under the overall we provide you (long thermal underwear, thermal/woolen socks, loose-fitting fleece / wool or similar on top)
